How To Live The Life Of A King - Part 2

So we saw in part one how important it is for us to know that we have been made kings on earth and unto our God. And also, we understood how everything has been put under our feet; how everything is subject to us, under our control.

In us is the innate ability to rule over or dominate every circumstance that rears its ugly head.

And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth. Ps. 5:10

You are to REIGN on earth and not to WAIL on earth. So whatever is making you to wail is subject to you…you either allow it to go on or you reign over it. You are always in charge; ALWAYS in control.

In the first part, we said the number one thing to do to live a life of a king is to know that you are a king.

Let’s look at the second thing;

FEAR THE LORD ALONE

To reign on earth successfully, you’ve got to fear the One who gave you the dominion. You need Him to rule on earth. Some people confuse “fear the Lord” with being scared or totally horrified of Him.

He is your Father; and He loves you wholeheartedly. The scripture saying we should fear Him doesn’t mean run from Him, because He isn’t a horrible God.

It means fear out of REVERENCE for Him. He deserves your worship and admiration. You shouldn’t do things that put Him out of relevance. In fact, it is wise you consult Him before doing anything. You are a king, but He is the King; the One who made you king. You don’t bite the hand that fed you. There will be consequences.

So why fear the Lord ALONE, what about other people/things?

You can respect people but not to the point of being afraid of them. Not to the extent they now control your life, threaten your happiness or your future. No human has the right to do so, unless you allow them.

Your boss at work isn’t to be feared. If you have done dishonourable things because you needed to keep your job, then probably you didn’t deserve that job in the first place.

Remember you are king, and kings don’t remove their crowns to bow to nobody or situation. Instead of you bowing to such situation, bow to the King who gave you that job and who by His power made that company into existence in the first place to cater for your needs.

Do not fear your boss, fear THE LORD alone.

Do your “job” but not his selfish wants. Do not fear when he starts threatening you with a sack letter. Remember such situation is under your feet. It is under your control. Either you give in or prove who you are. 

Life’s situation is always a test to prove your worth. Either you prove you are worthless or you prove you are worth the price that was paid with blood on the cross. The situation is always subject to you.

And this applies to also everything that wants you to bow to it: cancer, etc.

You allocate power to what you fear. What happened when you stopped being afraid of the dark?

In life, every challenging situation will want to force fear out of you, once you give in to fear, the situation has won 95% of the battle. That’s how little a chance you’ve got to win when you allow fear to rule.

“Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated… Isa. 54:4

Joshua’s secret in winning battles was very simple. The Lord had it ingrained in him - “do not fear”, “be strong and courageous”.

So Joshua fought against his enemies with a mind free from fear but filled with belief that the Lord was with him. Have that kind of mindset against any situation. 

You are never alone…

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isa. 41:10 

…Do not fear the reproach of mere mortals or be terrified by their insults. Isa. 51:7

Come to think of it, “do not fear”, is an instruction. And many of us are living everyday disregarding the instruction.

So right now, write down the kind of things or the names of people or the kind of situations that you are afraid of and decide today not to ever fear them again.

For you are to FEAR THE LORD ALONE.

Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon, whom you now fear. Do not be afraid of him, declares the LORD, for I am with you and will save you and deliver you from his hands. Jer. 42:11 

Remember when Jesus was tempted, He was asked to do this and that, and He will be given this and that. Though at that moment, He wanted those things, He knew compromising is giving in to the fear that if He doesn’t accept what was offered, He may never find this great opportunity again.

But He knew who He was;  he knew he was entitled to even more than what was been offered.

What have you been compromising your faith for?

Is it worth it? Don’t you know you are worth more than what is being given at the moment?

YOU ARE A KING!  YOU ARE A KING!!

FEAR NO ONE! FEAR NOTHING!

FEAR THE LORD JESUS! PUT YOUR TRUST IN HIM!!

But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats ; do not be frightened.” 1Peter 3:14 

Moses was faced with the red sea, Joshua with the wall of Jericho, Abraham with no child, David with a Goliath, and Jesus was faced with the sins of the world. These people all overcame. They all knew who they were, hence, they overcame with the help of the King of kings backing them.

…for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 

Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. 1John 5:4-5

Fear is a faith killer. Once you are afraid of a situation, then you've put down your shield. You are prone to all attacks now. But believing in Christ Jesus even when it isn't easy, then what you have said/done in essence is, "I don't care what I am faced with right now. I don't care. All I know is my GOD shall see me through. Because I AM HIS SON/DAUGHTER. He made me KING to rule over this kind of situation, therefore, I TAKE CHARGE RIGHT NOW and believe I AM COMING OUT VICTORIOUS in Jesus name."

Whatever you are facing right now, trust in your Lord God, to bring you out or take you through it.

FEAR NOT the circumstances, FEAR THE LORD ALONE.
