WALKING AS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD ~ PART B ~

Being in darkness does not mean you can’t see physically, according to the word of God, it means there is something in your life that needs to be addressed. There is something that needs to see the light so that it can be stopped. The lame, the blind, the poor, the fornicators, thieves, arm robbers, corrupt governments, those in the hospital and etc; they are all in darkness.

One of the meanings of darkness is to be in want/need of something substantial. They need us for we are the manifestation of God’s glory. We are the light of the world. We make manifest God’s word by acting it, teaching others; but most especially meeting people’s need. Jesus met everyone’s need that He came across. When you meet with fornicators, how do you behave? With orphans, beggars, the lame, the blind; what do they get from you? Cos, if you are truly the light of the world that God said that you are, they won’t be the same after encountering with you. No one met Jesus and remained the same. He was and is really the True Light (1John1:9). When the light comes into an environ, its effect announces its presence. A nation with 24hrs of light doesn’t need much to excel. You don’t need to announce yourself, let the work that you do announce you and glorify God.

Let’s go over to Eph. 5:8, “For ye were sometimes darkness but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.” Check the above first underlined word, it says “for ye were sometimes darkness” and not “for ye were sometimes in darkness”. And again it says, “are ye light” and not “are ye in light”. This means that darkness is a body, a person and likewise, light. So we are an embodiment of light because we are light. Without Christ in a person’s life, that life is full of darkness. Spiritually, that person is darkness: living a shady life; a life full of shadows. All what he is doing are all shadows because inside him is darkness and therefore, he is darkness. Because the real you is in you i.e. your spirit and so if your spirit is full of darkness then you are darkness personified. And that includes those that are unborn again. No matter how good that person is it doesn’t change the fact that that person is darkness. Why?

Simple!! Because he has not received Christ into his life. Remember that Christ is the True Light. So in us is light because Malachi called Him – the Sun of righteousness. We are an embodiment of light therefore are we light. Whatever behavior man does, it starts from the inside. We are full of light and therefore can only manifest what is in us – Light.

Now what are we to do even as we are light? Well the answer is in Acts 26:18, “To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.” Our works for the kingdom even as light are to;

(a) To open their eyes (b) To turn them from darkness to light (c) To turn them from the power of Satan unto God.

As you can see, as light we are not to only shine but also work for God. For if you are saved why not save others from stumbling. No matter how rich, healthy that person might look, if he/she is not born again, he/she is still living in total darkness and will not see light until you get to work

(d) To guide their feet into the way of peace (Lk.1:79) Peace here doesn’t just mean “to be at rest” but also means “prosperity, good health”; that is what you as a light is there for - to guide their feet into prosperity, into a life of good living, good health.

You are denying so many people so many things if you just sit down in your home and do nothing.

The story people are supposed to be hearing about you is that you brought light, life into somebody’s life, you turned their sorrow to joy, pain to merriment and not the opposite or the other way around.

(Matthew 4:16) Jesus is the True Light and also the great light and He is in you. Walk with Him and experience great bliss.
